Nigeria’s new High Commissioner to Jamaica, Dr. Jane Bassey Adams, has pledged to deepen cooperation between both countries, with focus on trade, investment, health, education, technology, tourism and culture.

Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Jamaica, Her Excellency Dr. Jane Bassey Adams, formally began her diplomatic assignment in the country on September 10, 2026, with the presentation of her Letters of Credence to Jamaica’s Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Honourable Sir Patrick Linton Allen.

The ceremony took place at King’s House in Kingston, where Adams conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to the Governor-General, the Government and people of Jamaica.

In her remarks, the High Commissioner described the occasion as a significant milestone in the relationship between Nigeria and Jamaica, pointing to the historical bonds and shared heritage that have continued to connect the two countries.

Adams said the longstanding relationship should be translated into stronger and mutually beneficial partnerships, particularly in trade and investment, health, culture, technology, tourism and education.

She also expressed her determination to work closely with the Jamaican authorities and other stakeholders to identify new opportunities for cooperation while strengthening partnerships already existing between the two countries.

The High Commissioner said her mission would be guided by the vision of “A New Dawn” in Nigeria-Jamaica relations, with greater emphasis on strengthening bilateral engagement.

The Federal Government of Nigeria remains committed to working with Jamaica to explore new opportunities for cooperation and to ensure that the longstanding fraternal ties between both countries continue to deliver meaningful benefits to their peoples.
