WASHINGTON DC – United States President Donald Trump has hosted Chinese President Xi Jinping at a state dinner attended by prominent business leaders, including technology executives Elon Musk, Sam Altman and Mark Zuckerberg.

The event, held on Thursday evening, brought together political and business figures as Washington and Beijing continued efforts to manage relations between the world’s two largest economies.

Trump described his relationship with Xi as a great friendship, while the Chinese leader called for the two countries to coexist peacefully.

The gathering highlighted the importance of maintaining communication between the United States and China amid longstanding disagreements over trade, technology, security and their competing global interests.

The participation of leading technology executives also drew attention to the role of the private sector in US-China relations, particularly in industries such as artificial intelligence, advanced computing, electric vehicles and digital technology.

Despite their economic ties, Washington and Beijing continue to face difficult questions over market access, export restrictions, technological competition and regional security.

The state dinner offered an opportunity for both leaders to project a message of engagement, although the event alone does not establish that major policy disagreements have been resolved.

Further developments will depend on the outcome of diplomatic discussions and any agreements reached by the two governments.
